New Chilling Tales- The Anthology

I am proud of the film, which is a compilation of four shorts I made in the UK and the US, stories all taken from the classic writers: THE MONKEY’S PAW (renamed for this: BEWARE OF WHAT YOU WISH FOR), by WW Jacobs, THE TELL-TALE HEART by Edgar Allan Poe, THE YELLOW WALLPAPER by Charlotte Gilman Perkins and THE DAMNED THING by Ambrose Bierce.

Horror stories have always appealed and since these were written by the best, they hold their own against Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Anne Rice in my humble opinion. I had a lot of pleasure making them…the best part is that one is control of your own work when you are making short films. You can find yourself the best actors, the best crew and set a cost that is manageable and then having chosen the best, hand over the work to them. That in my opinion is the job of a good Producer, find the project, get a script done…(easy in this case as they were pretty much written by the original pretty good writers) and find some finance (the hardest part) and turn it all over to the best available actors, Director and crew. Job done. And what fun it is. You have no-one to answer to, no outsiders whispering in your ear to change this or that – whatever goes right or wrong with the whole thing is up to you – your responsibility! And the opportunities for independent filmmakers to get their work sold has never been better with many the streaming channels desperate for new films.
And what a time for streaming now, with the lock down. Even this terrible tragedy happening around us has opened the doors for some new enterprises.
