Hello everyone….I am just getting ready to shoot another short film on Monday. This one is contemporary, written by yours truly and a fun story… I hope. It is called COUGAR, which will give you some idea of what it is about. It is “mit out sound’ as Otto Preminger used to say: ie: silent, no dialogue. We have assembled an excellent team again, I will act in it with the young star from ALMOSTING IT, the film I did last summer: Will von Tagen and he will co-direct with our terrific Director of Photographer Lincoln Lewis, who made ALMOSTING IT look so much more expensive than it was and added to its great Production value. Ah these talented enthusiastic young men. The third star of the film will be the music.
There are some good and talented people on the music scene here in Boise and we are fortunate to have acquired the services of Steve Eaton, composer and song writer, who is a wonderful musician, with an impressive track record. He has written songs for the Carpenters and Art Garfunkel, among others.
The world of music and musicians seems to be as chequered and yet as tightly knit as the world of actors. We all want to work with those people we know are as good and committed to the work as we are. Steve is clearly one of those.
I have been to listen to him play locally quite a bit now and we are delighted to have him.
The music is an intrinsic part of film making and wonderful music will add greatly to any Production…the music for all the Bond films, the music for LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, THE GODFATHER, STAR WARS, 2001, A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, THE GRADUATE…the list just goes on and on. Let me know what your favourites are!?
Ringo Starr came to Boise to play the other night with his Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band and they really are a bunch of stars. I met Ringo years ago on the set of A HARD DAY’S NIGHT, with the other Beatles and he looks exactly the same, small, slim and young. Drumming is an exhausting business and he was up there working his heart out, just as he has always done…what amazing energy and he was ably supported by some excellent musicians, including Steve Lukather from one of my favourite groups Toto and Richard Page, who played and sang his lovely song Broken Wings. The audience was ecstatic and a great night was had by all. I loved it and spent most of the evening on my feet cheering and dancing with everyone else. Elton John is here Saturday…maybe I will stagger along to see him too…must support the Brits!
Till next time…then I will tell you about our shoot. Fingers crossed.
How “flat” would Dances With Wolves have been without John Barry’s wonderful music? He created so many marvelous movie scores & enhanced their emotional depth. Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Herrman, Ennio Morricone – musical magicians…… xx
Wayne…Thank you….also John Barry wrote the music for THE LION IN WINTER! He wrote the two songs I had to sing too and had to cope with my poor singing abilities. We worked for hours together to get it right!
That’s great Jane you went to see Ringo and is all stars band.
I know I he does give a great show .
Sounds like you had a fun night.
